Winter is Coming
Utilitarian Chic
In the blink of an eye fall is coming to an end and the winter season is fast approaching us. Before New England is covered in snow I decided to visit one of Connecticut’s most popular orchards. To my surprise, I made it just in time to walk through their corn maze before they sadly tear it down. I enjoyed the crisp fall air by sitting and watching the ducks as they peacefully swam around the pond. Before heading home I warmed up with a tall cup of homemade apple cider and picked up some fresh apples for later.
Blending In, Yet Standing Out
Utilitarian Chic
The utilitarian trend continues to run strong and nothing suits it better than wearing my Militant Corset.
Camouflage never fails to sneak its way into everyone’s closet at some point or another, so why not sport this trend in the form of a Champagne Corset?
With a perfect palette of muted greens and browns, I decided to combine my military-inspired corset with a look that’s both utilitarian and glamorous by pairing it with embellished jeans and a faux fur trimmed cardigan. Mid-day it started to rain so I grabbed my hat out of my car to protect my hair from frizzing up! I liked how my hat paired with my boots gave this look an instant street-style vibe with a tough girl-glam sense of style.

Vive La Révolution!
Utilitarian Chic
My Militant Corset may be trying to fly under the radar, but it’s beaming with style! My design concept was to create a custom corset that mimics the same elements of a utilitarian jacket. The front closure has the traditional ½” wide steel busk with riveted hooks and posts that is hidden under a front placket with snap-button front closures. Vegan leather sequin ribbon is hand stitched on both sides of the front placket that adds the perfect amount of rugged-chic, feminine appeal. This corset has a total of 2 functional pockets with snap-button closures and various military-inspired patches and studs strategically placed throughout the corset. This corset is lined in luxurious 100% cotton in a solid earth tone color that feels super soft against my bare skin.
How do you like to style this military-inspired utilitarian trend?
Do you currently own a corset and would like help styling it? Or perhaps you’re ready for a custom handmade corset of your own. Let’s get started! I am happy to answer any questions you may have. Please comment below.
