After wearing my corset, I immediately air it out for a few hours by draping it over the back of a chair with the inside lining facing out. I then take a slightly damp washcloth and spot clean the inside to remove any skin residue. This works best for linings made with cotton or synthetic fibers. You must be very careful with fabrics such as silk or delicate satin as these materials will get water stains that are not removable. So, use very little water on the washcloth and wipe it down giving it an even wash. Corsets that are made from fabrics such as leather, faux leather, and vinyl can be wiped down on the outside as well to remove stains, dirt, and dust. Once wiped, I let it air dry again but not in direct sunlight as the sun can fade the color of the fabric.
Corset Cleaning Hacks

Vodka is not only great for martinis; it can also help disinfect your corset and remove any lingering smells. This method is widely used in the theatre and film industry, as the alcohol kills bacteria and evaporates quickly without leaving any residue or smell. Just mix a 50/50 solution of a generic, inexpensive vodka and water in a spray bottle and mist the inside of your corset.
Another idea to protect your corset from skin residue is to wear a liner or lightweight undergarment under your corset.
Dry Cleaning your Corset

Our corsets can also be dry cleaned. If you decide to take your corset to a professional dry cleaner, it is ideal to find one that specializes in theater costumes or bridal wear. Using certain stain removers might do more harm than good, ruining the fabrics or damaging the embellishments.
If it’s your lacing that gets soiled or damaged, don’t worry because it’s very easy to replace that. Just contact us and we’ll gladly show you how to re-lace your corset the same way it arrived to you.
