Are Corsets Meant to be Worn Over or Under Your Clothing?

Personal Preference

Are Corsets Meant to be Worn Over or Under Your Clothing?

This is probably one of the questions I get asked the most and my answer is always the same – whichever YOU prefer! It is definitely possible to wear a corset underneath your clothing while keeping your waist training routine a secret, but it can be a lot of fun to wear a corset as outerwear too! We all have our own signature styles that are an expression of our personalities, our preferences and ourselves. Dressing is an art form and your body is a canvas to express yourself wearing different colors and styles of clothing.

Proper Form

Are Corsets Meant to be Worn Over or Under Your Clothing?

It is very difficult to find a well-fitted off-the-rack dress that completely fits every curve of my body. My underbust corset helped give my dress a proper fitted-shape and structured waist while keeping my back up straight and preventing any unfortunate posture. I personally like to experiment with my wardrobe and wear my corset over my clothing for an elegant look with added drama.

Are Corsets Meant to be Worn Over or Under Your Clothing?

On the other hand, you may want the look of an hourglass silhouette but you don’t necessarily want to advertise to the world that you’re wearing a corset. This is where the practice of “stealthing” comes in – the art of wearing and hiding a corset under your clothing. Corsets allow you to instantaneously fit into smaller or more fitted clothes that perhaps you couldn’t fit into before.

They smooth out any bumps under an outfit and help make your clothing hang differently; and for some people, that gives them a boost in confidence.

Corsets are a great way to spice up an outfit whether they are worn over or under your clothing so try it out and let us know in the comments below which way you prefer wearing it.

Do you currently own a corset and would like help styling it? Or perhaps you’re ready for a custom handmade corset of your own. Let’s get started! I am happy to answer any questions you may have. Please comment below.
