5 Things Everyone Should Know About Corsets
Over the years I have gotten many questions about corsetry, why I wear corsets and what the hype is all about. Although there are many benefits of wearing a corset I have put together my top 5 things you should know before lacing up. Whether you are new to corsetry or you have been waist training for years I hope to clarify some of the misconceptions and myths that have surfaced over the years.
1. Corsets Are Not Dangerous or Unhealthy To The Body
In fact, not only are corsets completely safe when worn properly, they can help control back pain, muscle tension, correct posture and help with weight loss. A well-fitted corset should make you feel supported and hugged tightly around your waist. If you are experiencing any pain while wearing a corset it may be tightened too tight, ill fitting and/or the wrong size.
2. Bespoke Corsets Are Worth The Investment
Well-crafted corsets are fundamental when you want to look and feel your best! A bespoke corset is made from scratch to your specifications with exceptional design, detail and quality. A good fit is the key to showing off your body in the most flattering and confident way. Our corsets are custom made to your personal measurements while providing enough ease and comfort. We value precision and listen to your needs and preferences. Quality materials are used and you select from a library of fabric options that best suit your environment while highlighting your personal style. Bespoke gives you the opportunity to own a wearable work of art that is both unique and one-of-a-kind. Because of the overall quality, there are fewer problems to face later on and are made to outlast off-the-rack corsets. So if you are looking for a corset that fits impeccable and is truly customized to your body and preferences take a look here how it works.

3. Corsets Made With Plastic Boning Will Not Have The Same Effects As Corsets Made With Metal Boning
If you are looking for a corset that can help shape and enhance your body then plastic boned corsets are NOT for you. Plastic boning is very weak. They are more flexible than steel, thus not durable for long-term use. They are not long lasting and therefore over time the ends will bend and may even tear out of the corset if worn tightly. After just 2 hours of wearing a plastic boned corset they start to get warm, which makes them bend and sometimes dig into your skin. This is extremely uncomfortable and may even be dangerous. They are not ideal for waist training, tight lacing or helping with back pain (due to their flexibility).
If you are looking for a structured and polished look, steel boned corsets are known to be of the superior quality. They are much stronger and durable. They provide more control and shape for your body and are ideal for waist training, tight lacing and helping ease back pain. Corsets made with steel boning are more comfortable and can withhold its shape when worn for long periods of time. Steel boning prevents fabric from wrinkling, doesn’t break and provides extra mobility. All of Champagne Corsets are made with steel metal boning.
4. Underbust Vs. Overbust Corsets
Underbust corsets are great for beginners who are looking to waist-train on a daily basis. They allow you to move more naturally and have more mobility for reaching and bending over. Breathing is a bit easier as it sits lower on the ribcage. If you don’t want your corset to be seen, underbust corsets look more natural underneath your clothing, also known as stealthing, which is the art of hiding your corset under your clothes while achieving the look of an hourglass silhouette. On the other hand, wearing an underbust corset over your clothing also gives you more variety in your wardrobe. And lastly, they are much easier to fit various body shapes and sizes since they sit below the bustline.
Overbust corsets come up higher on the rib cage and up to your shoulder blades in the back. They are better for your posture because it is impossible to lean over and haunch your shoulders. Bras are replaced and heavy breasts are supported all while taking the stress off the shoulders and upper back. They can also be custom made to help lift smaller breasts a little higher than conventional bras do, making the top half look fuller while creating more cleavage. Overbust corsets can help stabilize spinal curvature and misalignment of scoliosis while helping alleviate back pain and muscle tension from their curve*.
*Please talk to your doctor before wearing a corset for medical conditions.
5. Men Wear Corsets Too
Whether you’re a gentlemen wearing a corset trying to create the hugely desirable smooth silhouette of accentuated broad shoulders and a narrow waist (V-shape), looking to achieve a more feminine silhouette, or wearing a corset to help support back problems, male corsetry is as popular as ever. They can supply great support for activities such as horseback riding and hunting and men can possibly benefit from corsets even more so than women.
This garment of centuries past, also known as the corset, is not nearly as evil or confining as modern folks have come to believe. I get great pleasure in lacing people up and watching as they discover their inner confidence and the subtle power that corsets help bring out of them.

Hello! I was looking for professional information about corsets and was disappointed to find spelling/grammar mistakes in this article.
In the third section, you mention that if you are wanting a longer hold “than” plastic boning is not for you, when it should have been “then.”
I point this out to increase your credibility as the other information in this article was very helpful.
Thank you and keep up the good work!
